Cogent Security is on a mission to stop breaches and prevent cybercrime by innovating at the frontier of generative AI systems. We are building the world’s first AI cyber taskforce, composed of AI agents capable of human-caliber reasoning and execution of cybersecurity tasks, that autonomously protects organizations from emerging threats. The early adopters of our technology include some of the world’s most important institutions, spanning public companies, elite universities, and Fortune 500 corporations across industries. 

Cogent was founded by a seasoned team of former engineering and product leaders, who bring decades of experience across cybersecurity and technology. The early team is fully in-person in San Francisco, and consists of the top software engineering and machine learning talent from leading companies such as Abnormal Security, Coinbase, Microsoft, Tesla, and more. To support our ambitious growth plans, we recently raised a large Seed round from top investors and angels across AI, cybersecurity, and enterprise software.

About the Role

As we onboard our first design partners, Cogent will be ingesting petabytes of data from customers, which will create extensive opportunities for data analysis, metrics definition, and insight extraction.

What You’ll Do & Achieve

• Help Cogent to deeply understand and present its customer's data.

  • Collect, discover, clean, organize, and analyze data from multiple sources across customers.

  • Deploy your understanding of customer data to provide input and support to internal partners in Product, Engineering, and more.

  • Visualize and present insights to customers in order to help them better understand the value of Cogent’s offering as well as to get their feedback on how to improve it.

• Leverage Cogent’s customer data to design and build core vulnerability ranking and prioritization algorithms

  • Identify and create features that can be used to prioritize and make recommendations on key questions related to the vulnerability management workflow.

  • Help to identify which inferred traits are necessary for inclusion into the knowledge base, to establish how to calculate the confidence levels of those inferred traits, and to implement the extraction of those inferred traits.

  • Work with ML / Applied AI engineers to productize and productionize the above.

• Help create a robust approach to data science at Cogent

  • Onboard, support and uplevel future team members focused on data science and beyond.

  • Participate in, provide feedback on, and iterate the interview process as we scale the team up.

  • Actively contribute to Data Normalization, Result Quality and Recruiting initiatives.

Who You Are

• Possess strong data science fundamentals

  • Able to dive into new datasets, make sense of them, clean them up where necessary, and leverage them to produce useful insights for internal and external stakeholders.

  • 5+ years relevant work experience supporting ML-driven products using machine learning or statistical modeling on large-scale datasets and in pre-processing and analyses of data 

• Ability to enable others with analyses and tools

  • Able to produce data analyses and tools that can be productively used by others in adjacent roles.

  • A proven track record of excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills on short and long term projects
