In this position... 
The Ford Performance teams get to work on all the fun stuff, work on all the new vehicles, and work closely with the racing side. The team is located in the Roush building, and they work on everything in house. Smaller teams, so you get exposure to a lot of different areas.

  • Design and Release primarily chassis components including shocks, springs, control arms, suspension hardware and frame hardware for future Ford Performance vehicles. 
  • Ford Performance is a small team of dedicated engineers who turn mainstream Ford vehicles into extraordinary performance machines.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support vehicle development and supplier reviews.
  • Unique D&R position with initial focus on up-front program definition and development from program kick-off through initial stage of underbody verification (more Design, less Release)

What you'll do...

  • The Design and Release engineer is the single point of contact for all aspects of the component part design; responsible to deliver components and systems that meet program targets for quality, function, cost, weight, and timing.
  • Support prototype and testing builds and ongoing production of Ford Performance vehicles at assembly plants and test facilities.
  • Interface daily with other Advanced Systems Engineers, CAD resources, D&R engineers, attribute teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure compliance with required specifications and critical decisions are made efficiently.
  • Work directly with core underbody teams to ensure requirements are met

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • Demonstrated results in component Design and Release required, with experience at different phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Ford PD systems and processes including: GPDS, FEDEBOM, FEDE, Teamcenter, etc. required.
  • Strong knowledge of chassis systems and how they interface with the other vehicle systems required.
  • Experience specifying, sourcing components/systems and overseeing prototype vehicle build desired.
  • Familiarity with CAD (Catia) tools desired
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
  • Experience with vehicle manufacturing launch and prototype process desired
  • Ford Tier II driver evaluation certification desired
  • Ideal candidate is a self-starter with ability to deliver results and overcome obstacles.
