The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location within the GES Global Engineering Services division.
The Food Services Associate supports daily dining operations at the AP6 corporate headquarters by preparing and serving food and beverages, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized foodservice environment. This role may include food preparation, barista duties, cashiering, serving, and inventory management.
What You'll Work On:
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and assemble menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and food safety guidelines
- Serve food courteously and efficiently in a corporate dining or café setting
- Assist with catering setups and breakdowns for meetings and events as needed
Barista & Beverage Service
- Prepare coffee, espresso-based drinks, and specialty beverages
- Operate espresso machines and other beverage equipment safely and properly
- Maintain a clean and stocked beverage station
Cashiering & Customer Service
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately
- Handle cash, credit, and mobile transactions following company procedures
- Provide friendly, professional service to employees and guests
- Address customer questions or concerns promptly and professionally
Inventory & Stock Management
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating food and supply inventory
- Monitor product levels and communicate restocking needs
- Help minimize waste through proper storage and inventory practices
Sanitation & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
- Comply with local health department regulations and company policies
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalant preferred
- Previous food service, cafeteria, café, or barista experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic math skills and comfort using POS systems
- Knowledge of food safety practices (ServSafe certification a plus)
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30–40 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as required for food service tasks
