Food Pantry Worker

LOCATION: The Salvation Army – Mesa Corps – Mesa, AZ

MISSION STATEMENT

The Salvation Army Mesa Corps is looking to fill a Food Pantry Associate position. The successful candidate for this position will have respect and concern for cultural diversity and excellent interpersonal skills.

The Food Pantry Associate will prepare and distribute food boxes while maintaining the cleanliness of the food pantry and appropriate food handling guidelines. This person will assist with taking inventory of the food pantry to help with ordering of food and other goods. This position will facilitate the training of all volunteers and assist with the pickup and drop-off of donations. The Food Pantry Associate will also assist with all seasonal and special social service projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Respect and concern for cultural diversity of families and individuals served
• Employment contingent upon successful completion of a Background check

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
