About the role

Overview

The Fitness Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all fitness and sport facilities within the community. 

The Fitness Director provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group.  He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute fitness events and classes throughout the year (sports courts, water activities, aerobics, and fitness) 
  • Prepare management reports with event updates and financial profit and losses to present during board of directors meetings 
  • Research, evaluate, and manage RFP process for third-party vendors  
  • Create electronic and paper communications for distribution, including fitness events, posters, and flyers advertising events and classes  
  • Compose articles for various community publications, including E-blasts, websites, and newsletters   
  • Ensure all parties are adhering to safety protocols during fitness classes and events 
  • Inspect the fitness facility and equipment regularly to ensure equipment is fully functional. 
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing duties, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPEs).  
  • Ensure direct reports complete all required in-person and online training required for their position.  
  • Schedule annual special projects and events with the Property Manager  
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Directly manage team of 2 or more teammates  
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.  
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalency required. Bachelor’s degree in business or hospitality preferred.  
  • 5+ years working in the fitness industry or similar position 
  • CPR and AED certification preferred  
  • Prior experience managing and leading a team

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.  
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities. 
  • Proficient command of computer hardware/software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
