The mission of the Troy Fire Department is to provide the highest possible level of fire protection, rescue, and hazard mitigation services to the community. This is accomplished with a team of professionals, both volunteer and career, by providing community risk reduction services; firefighter training; emergency operations; and planning.


DUTIES

  • Support the Fire Department staff by performing various administrative duties.
  • Responds to calls or requests to apparent emergency situations and provide fire protection.
  • Drive to fire stations and/or other locations to pick up and deliver mail, supplies, and equipment.
  • Transport vehicles, fire apparatus, and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform computer data entry as required including use of mobile devices.
  • Maintain Knox Box key inventory management, which includes processing inspection and inventory forms, prioritizing locations, assigning/scheduling inspections, and updating data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a current City of Troy Volunteer Firefighter who has successfully completed the probation period.
  • High school graduate (or GED equivalent).
  • Must be available for shifts as required by department.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards). Out-of-state applicants must provide current driving record at time of application and obtain State of Michigan license within one (1) month of appointment.
  • Applicants must meet LEIN (Law Enforcement Information Network) security standards in order to have access to the Police Department.

HOURS

Part-time, year-round.
Fluctuating workweek: Work hours vary between 8 - 24 hours per week between Monday - Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm) depending on staffing levels, department needs, and personal availability.
