Job Title: Fire Alarm Lead (NGA)

Job Summary:

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Fire Alarm Lead (FAL) to serve as the lead technician for all fire alarm equipment and systems at National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Washington facilities.  This position is at NGA headquarters in Springfield, Virginia.  The FAL is an essential member of a team of dedicated and talented professionals in delivering a wide range of base operations support services - such as installation and facility operations, maintenance and repair; workforce and security support; logistics support; and, project management, as well as others - at NGA facilities and sites located throughout the Washington National Capitol Region (NCR).  This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the principal technician responsible for the overall management, operation, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting and repair of fire alarm and fire suppression systems at all NGA Washington facilities and grounds.
  • Supervises/advises technicians in troubleshooting/resolving fire alarm and fire suppression wet and dry systems malfunctions.
  • Ensures all preventive maintenance and repairs performed on fire alarm and fire suppression wet and dry systems and components are compliant with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
  • Supports overall management of fire alarm and fire suppression wet and dry systems to ensure capability is in balance with known and/or future demand requirements.
  • Oversees the timely application of Government and local regulations, codes, standards, policies and procedures related to NGA fire alarm and fire suppression systems operations and management.
  • Working closely with the client and other stakeholders, gains an understanding of their needs and requirements and communicates them and the appropriate performance standards to the contract staff and supporting vendors.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective relationship with the customer to achieve a mutually beneficial business relationship.
  • Based on knowledge and experience, recommends ways to improve the full spectrum of the fire alarm and fire suppression wet and dry systems operations and services service delivery process to ensure high-quality goods and services are delivered on time and within cost.
  • Keeps accurate documentation and when necessary, performs analysis of activities and processes to improve contract performance.
  • Pro-actively seeks feedback from clients, attends meetings, submits reports, and assists both internal and external auditors and inspectors.

 

    Qualifications

    • Current Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
    • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Fire Alarm Systems Level II Certification.
    • At least 7 years of proven experience in:
      • Testing of fire alarm systems
      • Commissioning of fire alarm systems and sprinkler wet and dry systems
      • Sprinkler wet and dry system testing and repair
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the applicable NFPA code compliance, documenting changes and implementing new system(s) functionality.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operating system(s) to enable the proper monitoring and functionality of any newly installed equipment.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with reading and understanding blueprints, schematics and specifications.
    • Strong technical knowledge of facilities maintenance and operations, including complex electrical, mechanical, plumbing and associated control systems.
    • Highly developed leadership, management, supervisory, interpersonal, analytical and communication (oral and written) skills, to include managing personnel across multiple shifts.
