Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Marketing Business Unit (MBU) provides strategic direction and commercial execution in areas involving commodity marketing, market development, new ventures/opportunities and acquisitions. In supporting the long-term strategy and vision, MBU looks across commodity value chains. Current primary commodities include natural gas, ethane, propane, butane, condensate, crude oil, carbon and electricity. MBU leverages its strong asset base and optimizes capacity and margins of Pembina and its customers commodities using our transportation, processing and logistics capabilities. We strive to understand and react to ever-changing market dynamics.
The Marketing Unit (MBU) is currently undergoing a significant period of transformational change aimed at strengthening its operating model complete with the implementation of a Right Angle ETRM system with associated scheduling and risk reporting functionality.
Reporting to the Vice President of the Marketing Business Unit and in support of this evolution, Pembina is actively hiring for a Director, Financial Trading and Origination & Optimization to join its Calgary team.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in navigating MBU through this transformation, overseeing the strategic direction, management, and execution of financial trading activities; fundamental and market analysis; and, origination and optimization opportunities across the business. This role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, trading strategies, economic fundamentals and financial instruments.
The Director will lead a team of traders, specialists and analysts, working closely with senior leadership in MBU and across Pembina to optimize performance, enhance risk management practices, and align trading strategies with Pembina’s broader strategy.

• Lead the Financial Trading and Origination & Optimization team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance;
• Develop and implement trading and hedging strategies by commodity and exposure based on fundamental analysis, market trends, economic indicators and company risk matrices;
• Align trading strategies with organizational goals and ensure risk management protocols are consistently followed; and
• Provide thought leadership on trading opportunities, market conditions, and strategic market entry or exit points.
Transformation Leadership
• Serve as a key leader in MBU’s transformation, helping to design, implement, and operationalize the operating model;
• Act as a change agent by championing the adoption of new processes, systems, and cultural shifts within the team and across MBU;
