About this Position

As a Financial Analyst, Senior with Lane County, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity, accountability, and transparency of one of Oregon's largest local governments. This is a highly technical position for an experienced governmental accountant who thrives on complex financial reporting, data analysis, and producing accurate, audit-ready financial information that supports sound decision-making and public trust.

In this role, you'll lead the preparation of the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) while managing complex accounting activities throughout the fiscal year, including budget-to-actual reporting, modified and full accrual accounting, year-end close, and general ledger reconciliation. Working collaboratively across departments, you'll ensure financial information is accurate, compliant with governmental accounting standards, and presented in a way that informs County leadership, elected officials, auditors, and the public.

The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of governmental accounting with exceptional analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. You'll be comfortable navigating complex financial data, partnering with internal and external auditors, developing meaningful reports, and translating technical accounting information into clear, concise reports for a variety of audiences.

The successful candidate will bring experience with:
  • Preparing or contributing to an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with GASB standards.
  • Governmental accounting, including modified accrual and full accrual accounting principles.
  • Managing year-end close activities, general ledger reconciliation, and budget-to-actual financial reporting.
  • Coordinating and responding to internal and external audit requests.
  • Developing financial reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Writing clear, accurate, and highly technical financial reports for leadership, auditors, elected officials, and external stakeholders.
  • Interpreting and applying governmental accounting standards, regulations, and best practices while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

About this Division

The Financial Services Division, part of the County Administration Department, includes 15 FTE who support:

  • Accounting and financial reporting
  • Cash, investment, and debt management
  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Payroll administration
  • Procurement and contract compliance


The Division maintains accurate, timely financial records, ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and produces the County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). It oversees systems that monitor and report the receipt and disbursement of County and taxing district funds, and ensures all financial obligations are properly recorded.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Examples of duties

Training and Experience:

  • Eight years of education and/or experience in finance, accounting, municipal budgets, or similar; or a combination sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Advanced understanding of GAAP, governmental accounting, and GASB
