About the Department

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 500 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 117 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first American Athletic Conference program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats.

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Financial Administrator 1 to work in the Athletics Business Office. This is a part-time position, hourly and not benefit eligible.   

 

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure optimal management of insurance claims for student-athletes to ensure accuracy of medical claim payments and coordination of benefits while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and monitor insurance claims following a student-athlete injury or medical treatment.
  • Assist in the development of unit policies and procedures to ensure bills are adjudicated and paid timely. 
  • Review and approve insurance claims and medical bills associated with a student-athlete sport related injury. 
  • Coordinate with physician offices, physical therapy provider and other medical facilities on billing procedures to ensure claims and payments are processed in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor the financial status of medical expenses. 
  • Prepare reports in coordination with Athletics Business Office. 
  • Serve as liaison between insurance carriers, medical providers, and student-athletes regarding medical care coverage of athletic-related injuries, claims, and billing statements including advising student-athletes on financial responsibility. 
  • Secure and maintain all student-athletes' insurance policy information.
  • Maintain and submit documentation to the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with distribution of medical forms through the electronic medical record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and necessary for the administrative operation of the training room.
