Job Description
Network Systems Expertise: Proficient in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges. Possesses a strong understanding of wired communication systems (LAN/WAN).
Communication Systems Proficiency: Experienced with logging/recording, RF interfaces, and both wired and wireless communication systems. Highly skilled in Motorola communication systems, encompassing installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of field equipment.
Vehicle Integration: Familiar with mobile radio installation in vehicles, including wiring, antenna placement, power distribution, and seamless integration with vehicle electrical systems.
Electrical and Automotive Knowledge: Strong background in electrical and automotive systems, including schematic interpretation, fault diagnosis, and safe handling of 12V/24V systems.
Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to quickly solve customer problems in high-pressure situations, with a focus on diagnosing and repairing wiring faults, connector issues, grounding problems, and other electrical malfunctions in vehicle-mounted radio systems.
Software and Hardware Management: Experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting server hardware, operating systems, and software infrastructure related to communication equipment.
Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong self-management, interpersonal communication skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Capable of working effectively with Motorola customers, subcontractors, and internal Motorola teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service).
Work Ethic: Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, strong work ethic, high sense of urgency, and results-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
- System Optimization & Support: Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics. Develop solutions for complex technical problems involving communication system maintenance, upgrades, or integrations.
- Installation & Maintenance: Install, program, test, and troubleshoot Motorola mobile and portable radios, repeaters, antennas, and related accessories in both fixed and mobile environments. Perform vehicle radio installations (power wiring, antenna mounting, grounding, and integration). Maintain, optimize, and document complex communication systems, including RF and broadband infrastructure.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance routines to ensure optimal system performance, emphasizing trend analysis and detailed documentation.
- Customer & Team Collaboration: Provide field support for Motorola products, ensuring timely resolution of customer issues. Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales teams to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Safety & Documentation: Maintain compliance with safety standards, including the proper handling of electrical systems and vehicle components. Submit daily and weekly service, maintenance, and installation reports. Document all vehicle installations with photos, wiring diagrams, and configuration records.
