Project Overview

The Bechtel renewables team will perform project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup for utility-scale photovoltaic generating plants throughout various locations in the US.
This position will start in Richmond, TX on a short-term assignment. In addition to meeting all the Essential Job Duties and Job Knowledge, the ideal candidate should be adaptable and able to relocate to project sites throughout the US.
Position Summary
The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for overseeing operations within their discipline. Supports the Project Field Engineer, Superintendents, craft, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and contractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Reports to Project Field Engineer for daily scheduled work priorities, coordination between other disciplines and assigned specific tasks.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret design information including temporary facility drawings, grading and underground commodity drawings and electrical layouts.
- Inspect quality of field installed electrical commodities and ensure installation is in accordance with design documentation.
- Use GIS, SetRoute, Q4, and Smart Completions tools to plan, test, and document quality verifications.
- Completion of quality documentation in automation tool through construction and system turnover.
- Complete Inspection Installation and Test Records for cabling, terminations, cable testing, and torques.
- Experience with t-body terminations, meggering, and Very Low Frequency (VLF) testing
- Promote safe work behaviors and practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) policies.
- Ensure the applicable design documents for electrical commodities are provided to direct hire craft personnel to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation. This will include work package preparation, Bechtel Standard Work Processes and Procedures (SWPP) implementation, and documentation such as Requests for information (RFI)/ Field Change Document (FCD)/ Non Conformance Report (NCR), as well as completing as-built reports to document installed commodities.
- Coordinate with electrical superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
- Support the superintendent in interpreting design drawings/documents, monitoring equipment installation, planning material and equipment delivery and preparation and implementation of the 3-week look-ahead, four-week rolling schedule and budget control with support from Project Controls.
- Prepare material requisitions for permanent and temporary materials as directed and coordinate through Supply Chain to obtain these materials.
