Field Based Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist

Mission: We are looking for a reliable and driven Medical Assistant to help our providers deliver home-based primary care to our patients. MA professionals must be first and foremost qualified, compassionate, and great active listeners. The ideal candidate will be experienced in assisting with patient care while remaining patient and calm.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews daily schedule and drives to patients’ homes to facilitate telehealth on behalf of providers.
- Facilitates timely visits, scheduling logistics and collaborates effectively with providers, nurses & schedulers.
- Delivers care in the home as directed by the provider.
- Functions as the in-home medical assistant with medical responsibility for assigned patients.
- Conducts assessment of care needs of patients and caregivers as directed by the provider.
- Helps identify and define the patients’ medical problems for their provider.
- Monitors, directs, and maintains each Patients Population Health Records during the visit.
- Knowledge of practice protocols to assist in delivering patient care.
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.
- Experience with medical instruments and equipment required to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment while operating independently.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Takes vital signs, and other clinical tasks as ordered by provider.
- Assists in the scribing of medical information in the EMR.
- Assists in the filing of all patients’ signed documents captured at the visit.
- Aids in communication and form signing with patient/caregivers.
- Perform phlebotomy: drawing blood using needles and other equipment. Labeling samples correctly and sending them for testing.
- Performs all clinical duties while observing OSHA and HIPAA requirements.
- Maintains supplies and vehicle.
- Manages gas receipts and mileage.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Graduation from approved Medical Assistant program required
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCCT NCMA) preferred. BCLS certification highly preferred.
- Must maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license and good driving record.
- Minimum of one-year experience in patient care
- Caring for geriatric patients – preferred
- Personal integrity and high ethical standards
- Self-directed and organized
- Discrete/ability to maintain confidentiality
- Works well on a team
- Strong aptitude for customer relations/service
- Ability to work well under pressure or in high stress situations
- Ability to work well independently
- Great active listening skills
- Ability to problem solve and think critically
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Field Staff: In multiple locations where the patients reside to support the provider they are assigned to and is scheduled to see.
