As a Fiber Delivery Engineer on the Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team you will contribute to building a world-class network infrastructure by working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits. With a flexible workplace, you can work from home partially or fully and/or come to the office on an as needed basis.

 

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Fiber Delivery Engineer you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

  • Drive alignment to the goals and strategy of Microsoft with external customers, vendors, and suppliers and maintain good working relationships and reliable communication channels.
  • Perform market research, conduct analyses, and examine customer and technology-related industry trends, as well as industry-specific requirements or regulations to solve complex Network Capacity Delivery matters, identify areas of opportunity, and lead process improvements.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to propose and design architecture and integrated customer solutions for product and service support.
  • Develop reliable, scalable, and diversified operating procedures and strategies for Fiber Sourcing and Delivery segments.
  • Manage frontline technical projects with external suppliers by pulling and tracking construction schedules, including civils, permitting, cable overpulls, overlaying with E2E schedule and producing reports.
  • Manage governance programs and processes to ensure that specific performance requirements and standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development 
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
