Job Summary:
Under the lead work direction of the Executive Assistant within the Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC). Front desk student assistants gain experience in communications, customer service, and help with tasks related to the daily operations of the OMC office. The primary purpose of the job is to serve as the first point of contact for those who call or visit the OMC office.
The Office of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading and managing the University’s marketing, public relations and media relations activities to advance the University’s mission, core values and strategic directions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Under direct supervision and under the lead work direction of the Executive Assistant, duties include but not limited to:
Front Desk Coverage & Customer Service
- Serve as first point of contact; greet visitors; answer and route phone calls; take messages professionally.
Administrative Support
- Perform basic data entry, filing, scanning documents, and making copies.
Mail and Document Distribution
- Collect, sort, and distribute incoming mail and documents.
Errands and Office Tasks
- Run on-campus errands, restock office supplies, assist with general office organization.
Scheduling and Communication Assistance
- Help with setting appointments, sending emails, and internal office communications.
Project Support
- Assist with basic marketing office projects or communications-related tasks (as assigned).
Workspace Maintenance
- Keep front desk area tidy, sanitize shared surfaces, and maintain a professional environment.
Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent typing and computer skills.
- Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills are a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with a professional attitude
- Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people
- Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment
- Complete assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate and write proficiently
- Ability to multitask
- Must be detail oriented, punctual and reliable
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.50 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
