We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to support the CMS Medicaid Drug Program (MDP) system. MDP enables analysis, data sharing, program monitoring, impact analysis, metrics, program-to-operations comparisons, state-to-state comparisons, and support for manufacturers and other stakeholders. The platform helps CMS oversee the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program (MDRP) while supporting drug manufacturers and state agencies.
In this role, you will lead a small engineering team while remaining hands-on in delivery. You will help build and sustain modern web applications and backend services primarily using Node.js and Angular, with cloud delivery and automation leveraging AWS and infrastructure-as-code practices.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead day-to-day technical execution for a team of engineers delivering new features and sustainment work for the MDP system.
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js.
- Develop and maintain web UI functionality using Angular.
- Partner with product owners, stakeholders, and delivery leadership to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Support cloud-hosted environments in AWS, coordinating with platform and DevSecOps teams as needed.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards including code reviews, testing practices, documentation, and release management.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and continuously improve reliability and performance.
- Provide Oddball-side leadership responsibilities including mentoring, feedback, and performance support for direct reports.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong hands-on full stack experience with Node.js and Angular in production environments.
- Prior experience leading engineers with accountability for technical delivery.
- Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs across distributed systems.
- Cloud experience in AWS and familiarity with secure, regulated environments.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or similar.
- Some experience with Java for integration or legacy service support is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to balance stakeholder engagement with technical execution.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
