Summary:
The Assistant Dean of Faculty Relations will aid in the resolution process for complaints brought forth against faculty. The position serves as a resource to the Deputy Provost and Dean of Faculty (DOF), and manages the day-to-day responsibilities associated with conducting investigations related to any misconduct complaint against faculty and presenting findings to the DOF. Corrective or preventive action may include recommendations for coaching on performance, disciplinary action, and/or termination in accordance with university policies and procedures. Incumbent will also conduct research and prepare reports or recommendations for internal best practices. The position will assist the DOF with other related projects as assigned.
Essential Functions:

1) Investigation and Reporting
Conducts informal and formal investigations of reports and complaints of misconduct brought forth against faculty and faculty administrators, consistent with University policies.
Evaluating whether alleged conduct may constitute prohibited misconduct.
Conducting timely initial investigations.
Ensuring that relevant materials are reviewed promptly and parties to an incident are interviewed.
Maintaining careful records related to investigations.
Develops investigation plans, conducts interviews, identifies and collects relevant information, analyzes evidence and data, applies policy, and prepares detailed written investigative findings report to be presented to the DOF.
Serves as investigator to determine the nature and extent of the workplace issue.
Assures compliance with timelines, acts as an impartial party, maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion, and ensures a prompt, fair and neutral process for all parties.
Provides interim and protective measures, guidance, and assistance to complainants and respondents.
Assists the Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs in informal misconduct cases, including mediations.
Utilizes, maintains and administers an electronic case management system.
2) Faculty Relations
Serves as first point of contact for faculty and faculty administrators to address misconduct concerns, including disciplinary issues, job performance and other conduct issues.
Assesses issues and delegates responsibility for informal resolution where appropriate.
Provides guidance, support and training to administrators and supervisors in handling conduct issues that do not rise to the level of formal misconduct.
Provides written report of investigation to the DOF.
Provides guidance on university policy applicable to full time faculty and workplace regulations to faculty and faculty supervisors.
Assists DOF in resolution of other complex faculty relations issues as needed, including grievance processes.
Ensures that all faculty-related policies and procedures, including the Faculty Manual, are up-to-date, remain in compliance, and properly posted on the website.
