About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Application Engineer collaborates with internal and external parties to provide standard or custom application solutions.  This role plans, designs, develops, redesigns or enhances, installs, and implements various technology products. Technical responsibilities include problem identification, system architecture definition, hardware/software specification and/or design, and the creation of proposed for solution which includes the scope of work definition.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Defines standard or custom system solutions that include both technical and commercial details. Collaborates with various teams and departments to understand and better define these solutions.
  • Participates in information gathering meetings with clients to determine the clients' needs, business goals, and desired outcomes.
  • Gathers and researches information; confirms specifications, standards, and changes required to make or improve a product; reports or presents information and new ideas to be implemented into new and existing services, products, or equipment.
  • Transfers support knowledge to technical support team after integration. 
  • Supports development of relevant tools and materials to help define an understanding of the technology.
  • Participates in review of new software products and solutions.
  • Keeps current in software field and stays informed and aware of latest industry practices and developments in science and technology to ensure compliance with market needs.
  • Solves problems, aids other departments, answers questions about the technical functionality, and provides technical support for products.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
•    6+ years of previous experience specifying and selling software solutions, preferably in the industrial/CPG markets; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
•    Frequent (up to 30%) travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
o    Aptitude to work with proprietary MMS software and third-party control software (ladder logic, .xml, Lua, Linux, C#, C++ and structured text).
o    Experience in applying PLC control and software networking and integration with Enterprise level software including ERP and WMS.
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills 
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
