We seek candidates to help us design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug a set of core OCI storage infrastructure services.
Our group works on one of the world's largest distributed storage systems with uncompromising data durability and performance requirements. Strong knowledge of disk storage system IO technologies and experience with Linux kernel Block IO Layer or other OS/kernel Block IO drivers is required in this role. As a member of this group, you will actively define and evolve standard practices and procedures. You will provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design, and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet continuously evolving needs.

As a technical leader, you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the Cloud Storage. It would be best if you were a strong programmer and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems and design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
Responsibilities
As a Principal Member of the Technical Staff of the storage media team, you will be called upon to lead projects and participate significantly in the design of storage media projects. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a storage systems HW generalist, able to dive deep into the file system and IO layers of the SW stack and low-level systems and interactions with the control plane. You will use your knowledge and debugging skills to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with disk IO subsystems and recommend solutions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
To succeed with these responsibilities will require:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 4-8 years experience of an experience with disk storage system IO technologies.
- Experience with Linux kernel Block IO Layer or other OS/kernel Block IO drivers
- Experience with Block IO protocols such as SCSI, iSCSI, SAS, NVMe
- Knowledge and experience with HBAs, RAID adapters, and SAS expanders are a plus.
- Experience in debugging storage HW/FW/Driver issues.
- Experience in benchmarking & analyzing disk/storage performance.
- Experience with data storage fault tolerance and reliability techniques (mirroring, RAID, erasure coding, etc.) is a plus.

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
