Must have5 years Claims Handling Experience5 years Claims LitigationPRIMARY PURPOSE: To address and handle litigated and some non-litigated complex cases with serious injuries, general liability, employment practice liability and legal inquiries or disputes; to develop a strategy to bring a case to satisfactory resolution and within the client's service instructions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews/acts on reports/forms; responds to inquiries; seeks legal opinion and early resolution; and communicates resolution to appropriate parties.
  • Responsible for litigation process on litigated claims and follow defense counsel guidelines and service expectations
  • Responds to decisions, agreement, and/or court order; creates action plan
  • Identifies cases for early resolution
  • Gathers/documents additional information and coordinates with client designees.
  • Identifies issues and formulates defense strategy with the defense team.
  • Establishes/adjusts accrued liability and approves legal expenses.
  • Identifies subrogation opportunities and tenders.
  • Attends and participates in mediations, trials, arbitrations or hearings as needed, usually via ZOOM vs in person
  • Coordinates calls with the defense team for strategy, authority, mock openings before trial, etc

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Must reside in California

Education & Licensing

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.

Experience

Five (5) years of experience handling litigation including 5 years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
