About the Unit
Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with more than 1,400 doctors on faculty.
Scope of WorkThe PGY2 residency program builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available. Provide safe and effective patient care services, while promoting safe and effective access to medication therapy. Provide patient-centered care through interaction and facilitating effective communication with patients, caregivers, and stakeholders. Participate in the identification and implementation of medication-related interventions for a patient population (population health management). Conduct pracrice advancement projects. Demonstrate leadership skills that contribute to departmental and/or organizational excellence in the advancement of pharmacy services. Demonstrate leadership skills that foster personal growth and professional engagement. Provide effective medication and practice-related education. Provide professional and practice-related training to meet learners' educational needs. Complete all additional activities required and outlined by individual Pharmacy Residency Program
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency.
- Experience gained through completion of a PGY1 residency program. Required

- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days required Or
- CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
