Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Chairperson, the Director of the Community Counseling Clinic is responsible for leading the oversight and management of the Community Counseling Clinic’s clinical operations and services. The Director is responsible for serving as a clinical site supervisor for master’s students, building client referrals, and streamlining client intake procedures. The Director serves as the supervisor for critical and sensitive matters relating to clients’ physical and mental health; engages in community partnerships and partnerships across campus; and helps expand the Center’s services to the community.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide clinical and administrative oversight of all Community Counseling Clinic (CCC) operations, including evaluation of services provided, development of office guidelines, policies, and procedures, emergency procedures, and crisis management.
Serve as clinical office manager and budget/business manager by overseeing marketing, procurement, record keeping, creating/implementing all revenue-generating activities, etc.
Serve as clinical supervisor for all activities, including emergency situations related to client physical and mental health and response to statements or reports of suicidal ideation, child or elder abuse, domestic violence, drug or alcohol use, intent of harm towards others, or any other emergent concerns.
Serve as outreach coordinator to build client referrals and community engagement (including but not limited to: managing social media, coordinating with state and county agencies, hospitals and law enforcement, communication and relationship building with other educational and mental health facilities, etc.
Serve as intake coordinator (i.e., conducting initial phone screenings, scheduling and/or conducting initial interviews, providing appropriate referrals and coordination of care, etc.).
Serve as clinical site supervisor for master’s students completing Practicum and Internship each semester and summer to ensure high-quality training and counseling services in a manner that ensures safety, liability, and ethical practice.
Review applications, conduct interviews, and determine placement for all practicum and internship students seeking placement in the Clinic.
Provide direct training on all relevant policies, clinical responsibilities (i.e., conducting
initial interviews, assessments, evaluations, as well as the completion of intake summaries, session documentation, treatment and discharge planning, etc.), and technological systems (i.e., electronic record keeping and video recording) in compliance with legal and ethical mandates.
Provide weekly clinical and administrative supervision (individual supervision and group staffing) for any staff and Counseling Program graduate students/assistants.
Conduct live observation and/or video recordings of client sessions, provide weekly individual feedback and group advisement, and conduct unscheduled consultation with students as needed to address client challenges/concerns.
Hire and supervise clinical site supervisors as needed for individual supervision and clinical coverage of the CCC during operating hours.
Network and engage in outreach, client recruitment, and collaboration efforts with human services and mental health agencies, schools, community organizations, other academic units, private sector firms, and government agencies.
