Job Overview

 

As a Wood CNC Machine Operator, you will:

 

  • Operate assigned production machinery in accordance with company standards to complete customer orders.

 

Regular hours:   Tuesday to Friday (4x10) 730 pm (Monday night) to 6 am (Friday morning)

Overtime:            Mondays (Sunday night) 930 pm to 6 am as mandated

Training Shift:    1st Shift for approximately 4-6 weeks or longer if necessary.  The Shift Premium will still apply while training on 1st Shift.

Rate of Pay:       Based on level of experience and includes a $2 Shift Premium per hour

 

Required Qualifications

  • 8th grade education or higher
  • The ability to work in Big Rapids, MI without relocation assistance
  • The ability to lift items weighing up to 50lbs with assistance
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior machine operator experience specifically Wood CNC and Edge Bander experience. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Computer experience, including keyboard/mouse skills
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments, such as measuring gauges (calipers and micrometers) and tape measures

Major Responsibilities

  • Accesses electronic production system to determine daily schedule.
  • Verifies parts received against pick tickets for accurate counts, colors, part numbers, and packaging. Monitors material flow and updates electronic production system accordingly.
  • Selects the appropriate machine settings or program according to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine. Makes minor machine adjustments. May make simple repairs.
  • Performs change-overs (adjusts tooling or tolerances, selects programs, etc.).
  • Investigates & documents production nonconformance issues.
  • May be required to operate a powered industrial truck and/or overhead lift system.
