Brown UniversityAbout the role
Description
The Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Immunology laboratory of Dr. Lalit Beura at Brown University (https://sites.brown.edu/beuralab/). Our research spans diverse areas, including:
● Unraveling the Fundamental Mechanisms Governing Mucosal Resident Memory T Cell Development and Persistence.
● Pioneering the Development of Novel In Vitro Systems to Model Immune-Stromal Interactions in Mucosal Tissues.
● Investigating Signals from Commensal and Pathogenic Microbes Influencing T Cell Differentiation and Function.
This search is to identify a suitable postdoctoral candidate to fulfill the following duties in the Beura Lab:
● The postdoc will lead a research program investigating the interaction between reproductive epithelium and immune cells that shape mucosal immunity.
● The postdoc will design, perform, and analyze independent research experiments in collaboration with the P/I.
● The postdoc will mentor junior lab personnel - graduate students, staff, and undergraduates.
● They will contribute to scientific publications by writing and editing articles, preparing quality figures, and analyzing data.
Qualifications
● PhD or MD/PhD degree in Biology.
● Several years of hands-on research experience in in vivo and in vitro experimentation, immunology, and/or microbiology (less than 2 years post-PhD).
● Strong expertise in animal experimentation (mice), preferably in cellular or molecular immunology.
● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to independently design and conduct experiments and interpret data.
● Proficiency in advanced immunology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, immune cell phenotyping), histological techniques (e.g., Cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry, epifluorescence, and confocal microscopy), routine molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA and RNA isolation, quantitative Real-Time PCR), and standard tissue culture techniques.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in memory T cell biology.
- Hands-on skills in next-generation sequencing analyses, including transcriptional and epigenetic profiling.
- Background in immunology and microbiome studies.
- Prior experience in organoid models and viral transductions.
