Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks a non-tenure-track Lecturer in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Lecturers will lead classroom instruction, develop course content, grade and evaluate coursework and exams, and undertake other duties associated with their course and its modalities of instruction. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

• A Bachelor's degree is required, along with additional credentials relevant to the field of instruction - such as professional certifications or industry training, academic certificate programs, or prior teaching experience.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

• Master’s degree in the field of instruction or equivalent experience;

• Experience teaching at the college level.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare lesson plans appropriate to the scope and purpose of the course, including lecture materials, lab instructions, supplemental reading materials, assignments, and exams. Course content, including recordings of the class sessions, needs to be published according to the University's e-learning standards using the Blackboard Learning Management System;

• Meet classes as scheduled; notify the appropriate Chair/Director, Assistant Dean, or Dean in advance if they are to be absent, and, if possible, arrange for a substitute instructor or assignments for his or her class;

• Be accessible to students through email, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours, including arranging, when necessary, additional time for appointments;

• Prepare and distribute syllabi in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, and follow the published final exam schedule;
