Job Description

** Position is remote (Working in US Eastern Time), but candidates should be available to travel up to 50% of time, domestic or international.

** Expected travel for first project will be to Trinidad & Tobago once every 2 months for a week.

SDS is looking for an expert-level frontend developer to lead frontend development practice in a small team. The candidate is expected to contribute most of their time directly to implementation (coding) with the remaining time spent in client and team collaboration and mentorship. Additionally, the candidate can implement a frontend project in React from an empty folder to ready for production, on their own, if required.

Our initial project will involve building an enterprise dashboard based on designs provided by a UX team to provide actionable insights for C-suite executives. Ideal candidates have experience in dashboard and visualization libraries such as Chart.js or another charting library.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and assist in the deployment of frontend projects in Typescript and React from initial requirements to production.
  • Implementation of all aspects of the application including selection of React framework / build system, design systems such as Material UI, and authentication via OIDC.
  • Evaluate and lead efforts on frontend framework, libraries, and languages selection for projects.

Other Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with UX teams to implement reusable design and components. On projects without dedicated UX support, provide designs.
  • Provide mentorship and perform code reviews.
  • Work in a cross-functional team, collaborating with backend and other frontend developers in US and India time zones.
  • Work with clients and functional consultants to understand and address application requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a front end engineer, with the last 3 most recent yrs in React
  • Expert level HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React
  • Experience with design frameworks such as Material UI and Tailwind
  • Troubleshooting skills and solid understanding of REST APIs and utilization of OIDC-based authentication systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • Strong organization skills and keen attention to detail
  • Familiar with version control systems such as Git, pull requests and branching

Preferred:

  • Experience in dashboard creation and data visualization in frameworks such as Chart.js or D3
  • Experience with other frontend frameworks such as Angular or Vue
  • Experience in Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, or Figma to collaborate effectively with design teams
  • Experience with testing tools such as Jest and Cypress
  • Backend experience in Java or Node.js and databases
  • Previous work experience in a consultancy or design agency is a plus

Additional Information

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $140k-$170k.
