About the role

The Imaging Assistant ensures that all equipment and supplies are readily available, assists technologists with patients, greets and directs visitors, receives and directs incoming phone calls, distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel, and maintains knowledge of all film file room operations in Imaging Services.  The Imaging Assistant also functions as a patient/family/visitor liaison in an effort to improve satisfaction and acts in a manner that ensures privacy and confidentiality.

  1. Customer Service
    1. Greets and provides assistance, guidance, and direction to visitors, patients, and physicians and directs individual to various locations within the department and hospital when appropriate.
    2. Receives incoming telephone calls, exercises judgment in prioritizing calls, and directs calls to appropriate personnel. Receives and distributes paperwork and maintains all logbooks associated with Imaging Services.
    3. Serves as a patient/family/visitor liaison to ensure that all needs are met in an effort to improve overall satisfaction, which is measured quarterly in Imaging Services.
  2. Quality and Preparation
    1. Prepares the work area/exam room by ensuring that equipment, linen, and other supplies are maintained and available at all times. Assists in ensuring that all work areas and equipment are clean, disinfected and presentable. Also disposes of contaminated items in exam room preparation.
    2. Assists technologists to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality throughout the entire experience in Imaging Services
    3. Maintains knowledge of all film file room operations.
    4. Performs duties of Radiology Transporter, as well as assists in processing of exposed images.
  3. Other Duties As Assigned
    1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • High School or equivalent
  • Completion of departmental training/orientation
  • BLS Certification
