As a locally owned utility, Heartland REMC is rooted in the communities we serve. Heartland REMC serves Wabash, Wells, Huntington, part of southwest Allen, and fringe areas of Whitley, Grant, and Adams counties. Heartland distributes electricity to over 15,000 members through a network of 2,300+ miles of power line. While the directors are responsible for guiding the cooperative as it evolves, the employees of Heartland REMC ensure that our members have safe and reliable electric power.
Job Description
As a Network Administrator, you will ensure our computer systems are well-maintained and optimized for performance under the direction of the IT Manager. Duties include but are not limited to network configurations, performance monitoring, general break/fix duties and other items as directed by the IT Manager and other management.
Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure security of systems and data through regular updates and backups.
- Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement new technologies.
- Provide technical support to our staff and end-users.
- Manage network documentation, such as configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Manage third party relationships with Fortinet, Cisco and other network vendors.
- Maintain accurate change records and documentation on work performed.
- Assist employees with IT needs in a timely and courteous manner.
- Monitor network for optimal performance and operation.
- Manage substation / downline network performance and needs.
- Other items as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in IT or 5+ Years Experience Preferred
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator, with at least [5] years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud computing services, such as Azure or AWS and Veeam
- Experience with network protocols and security, such as TCP/IP and firewalls.
- Experience with network standards such as VLANS, subnetting and routing.
- Experience with firewalls, routers, switches and their technologies a must
- Experience with Microsoft 365 technologies a must
- Strong communication skills with vendors and relationship management with vendors
- Prompt and courteous support for employees / board of directors
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong teamwork abilities are a must.
