Responsibilities & Requirements
The staff accountant II will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. Also, responsible for financial inquires, problem resolution, and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting setting.
- CPA or CPA candidate status (or plans to pursue certification), preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting software (Blackline, Allscripts, PowerPlay, preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and other Office software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Understanding of the financial statement close process (monthly, quarterly, and year-end).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions, including journal entries and account adjustments.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Help prepare reports for management and auditors, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded and accurate.
- Prepare and submit necessary journal entries to close accounting periods.
- Assist with preparation of 990 tax filings, and other related documents.
- Support adherence to company policies and procedures regarding financial transactions, accounting, and reporting.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes, ensure efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist auditors by providing requested documentation and responding to inquiries during the annual audit process.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Participate in special projects or perform other duties as assigned by management.
