About the Role
As a EMT, Senior Consultant II, Power System Studies, you will provide expert-level guidance on dynamic power systems analysis for complex projects involving short-term and long-term planning. This includes leading diverse client projects such as resource integration, model quality tests, large-scale EMT simulations, transmission and generation planning, oscillation analysis, and network modeling assessments.

You will oversee studies in power plant and control system design, dynamic stability, transient stability, voltage stability, sub-synchronous resonance, insulation coordination, arc-flash energy studies, and HVDC control system design. This role demands hands-on modeling expertise using PSCAD, EMTP, PSS/E, and DIgSILENT, along with the ability to mentor less experienced consultants and continuously develop your technical and leadership skills.

Location
This role offers flexibility and can be remote, hybrid, or onsite. Office locations include Kirkland, WA; Westborough, MA; Cary, NC; or Burnaby, Canada.

About You
You are a highly skilled power systems professional with 10+ years of advanced Power Networks experience in real-world, professional settings. You bring expertise in multiple technologies and functional areas, coupled with a proven ability to lead complex projects and mentor teams. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about delivering innovative client solutions while growing and supporting your team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead advanced power systems analysis and deliver solutions that meet client technical specifications, reliability requirements, and quality standards.
  • Perform EMT simulations, dynamic studies, large-scale system modeling, resource integration, and feasibility studies.
  • Execute complex studies such as voltage stability, sub-synchronous resonance, insulation coordination, and HVDC control system design.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and coordinate with global PSC colleagues to execute studies.
  • Manage client expectations, develop solutions autonomously, and deliver projects independently.
  • Take a leading role in proposal development, business development, and the identification of client opportunities.
  • Mentor junior consultants, serve as a technical lead, and review work on consulting projects.
  • Lead teams to solve complex problems and provide feedback to managers on team performance.

What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years of advanced Power Networks experience, with expertise in electromagnetic transients and multiple technologies.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in project management, team oversight, or technical leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency with tools such as PSCAD, EMTP, PSS/E, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
  • Experience with ISOs, RTOs, utilities, or consulting services, and knowledge of NERC requirements and IEEE standards (e.g., 2800, 1547).
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preference for advanced degrees specializing in power systems).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility.
