Job Overview

As a member of the Graduate College team, this role centers around providing comprehensive support to students during challenging times. The case manager will serve as a contact person for graduate students and assist in guiding them to finding resources and support ensuring their success. The person in this role will work closely with the embedded counselor, university and community partners to address non-clinical, consultative, emergency, and case management needs for graduate students.  This position has hybrid/remote work opportunities.

Essential Functions

The person in this position will collaborate with various campus and university units, as well as community organizations. This may include but is not limited to the UC CARE Team, Accessibility Resources, Veteran Affairs, and Financial Aid and Enrollment Services. The Case Manager must have the ability to work independently and to partner with these various departments in order to advance the Graduate College community's awareness of well-being issues and resources.

 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students
  • Help students go to the right office & navigating university policies/procedures
  • Serve as point of contact for students when navigating conflict, grievances, policies
  • Provides transitional support to referring therapist and clients in need of referral to community services.
  • Provide training for faculty/staff regarding managing student concerns
  • Engage in outreach with students (attend events across campus; offer services)
  • Develop relationships with academic units, student support services across campus to best serve students
  • Serving as a liaison, this position facilitates coordination between CAPS, Ombuds, and various community referral sources. These sources encompass hospitals, private practitioners, clinics, psychiatry services, and other mental health agencies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of community referral resources.
  • Collaborate with embedded counselor - refer services
  • Collaborate with PM for Community & Belonging; PM for Student Services to support Graduate College activities; and the Graduate College team
  • Support Graduate College events
  • Manage emergency funding requests in partnership with the Student Concerns subcommittee
  • Use data and research to inform services
