About the role

The role:

In accordance with mental health care standards, Agency policy and direction, legal and ethical requirements and professional competencies, the Occupational Therapy Assistant:

  • Assists in the provision of rehabilitation services, based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • Participates in the development and revision of organisational documentation and policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to a learning environment, through continuing education, training and professional development.

Position Features

  • The position will work within a forensic setting at the WLC and requires all staff to be alert to any matter concerning the security of patients, staff and the Wilfred Lopes Centre (WLC)
  • The occupant is expected to comply with all security practices and procedures of the WLC including biometric identification

 The Forensic Mental Health Service – Wilfred Lopes Centre:

  • Offers an opportunity to work within Tasmania’s only Secure Mental Health Unit
  • Rewarding opportunity to work closely with consumers
  • Offers an additional 6.5% Correctional Health Allowance

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $65,236 - $68,925 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility:

  1. Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
