About the role

The Public Engagement team in Corporate Responsibility (CR) is seeking to fill the role of Relationship Manager (RM), on the Community Engagement (CE) team based in Washington, DC. This position will be responsible for managing relationships with strategic partners across the political spectrum and cultivating forums to promote dialogue between the firm and influential national and local stakeholders, such as policy organizations and think tanks. This strategic function will complement and align with policy and regulatory functions, with the broader goal of advancing the firm’s interests. The RM will have a thorough understanding of the role of large financial services organizations in the economy and the communities they serve. 

The RM will report to the Head of CE with accountability to the Head of Global Government Relations (GGR). The RM will collaborate closely with GGR to plan and execute strategy, grant development and engagements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage an annual grant portfolio with opportunities for additional grants management and relationship building as strategy evolves
  • Support relationships with key influencers, including advocates and policy organizations of shared interests
  • Support engagement, in collaboration with colleagues across the firm, for key events, conferences and other activations; representing through various speaking engagements, to internal and external audiences
  • Design and host forums and events, in partnership with colleagues across the firm, to promote dialogue between senior executives and key partners
  • Work closely with colleagues in Corporate Responsibility, and corporate and business partners to proactively address issues raised by external stakeholders, and leverage opportunities 
  • Support broader firm strategy and execute in partnership with peers and colleagues working in local markets across the United States

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 7+ years of experience in stakeholder management, issue advocacy campaigns, and grantmaking 
  • Thought leadership and subject matter expertise on issues that impact the Firm’s reputation and business operations, including financial services, prudential, markets and/or consumer policy.   
  • Exceptional negotiation, written and verbal communication, including both public speaking the ability to engage with senior executives
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, taking into consideration multiple and sometimes conflicting points of view and stated objectives
  • Integrity and strong work ethic with high level of attention to detail and deadlines
  • Creative, flexible, collaborative, and results-oriented with an ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment; demonstrates a high degree of initiative
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and analytical skills 
  • Proven ability to multi-task in an intense, fast-paced, and results-oriented environment with a capability to work both independently and in a team
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills
