Collins Aerospace is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer – Data Analyst to join our Product Quality team in Fairfield, CA. This engineering role is critical in driving timely triage, quality disposition, coordination, and resolution of nonconforming material across the organization. You will lead cross-functional activities through the Quality Clinic process, working with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Production, and Customer teams to ensure discrepant material is efficiently dispositioned with full traceability.

In addition to quality coordination responsibilities, this position supports data-driven reporting, technical documentation, and quality performance metrics that guide key decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and communication skills with a background in engineering and technical processes.

What You Will Do

  • Lead or facilitate Quality Clinic meetings to review, triage, and manage nonconforming product.

  • Drive timely disposition of discrepant material in partnership with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Customer-facing groups.

  • Ensure all nonconformance records have complete, accurate documentation and proper approvals in accordance with internal procedures.

  • Maintain tracking systems for open nonconformances, action items, and root cause/corrective action (RCCA) activities.

  • Serve as the central point of contact for the disposition workflow and ensure process adherence.

  • Quality Engineering & Documentation Support:

  • Compile and organize technical data and documentation from engineering and quality sources.

  • Format and generate quality reports, metrics, and technical summaries using standardized templates.

  • Maintain version control and organized records of reports, dispositions, and supporting documentation.

  • Track incoming report or data requests and maintain logs to ensure on-time delivery and follow-up.

  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives with reliable documentation and data inputs.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience working in aerospace, defense environments.

  • Familiarity with nonconformance management, Material Review Board (MRB) processes, or RCCA

  • Exposure to SAP, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Windchill, or Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Comfortable leading discussions and coordinating input from multiple stakeholders

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel (pivot tables, lookups), Word, and PowerPoint

  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work across multiple functions
