Major Gifts Officer

Join our dynamic team at the International Mission Board as a Major Gift Officer and play a vital role in supporting the Great Commission globally!

Location: Remote (located near a major airport hub)
Rate: 85-95k annually

In this rewarding position, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing leadership in biblical stewardship among individual givers, helping to resource the mission of IMB through various giving strategies in the Southeast region of the US.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships with 75-150 current and potential giver relationships within your assigned portfolio.
• Engage givers in meaningful discussions about gift strategies, including outright and deferred giving options, to promote greater mission and ministry depth through the local church and IMB.
• Implement a moves-management plan aligned with an established gift-cycle for your portfolio, focusing on achieving a giver-centric strategy with goals for annual gift proposals, face-to-face visits, documented gift closures, and compliance with internal and ethics policies.
• Maintain accurate records of constituent activity in the Ministry Advancement database and complete additional administrative responsibilities as required.
• Continuously grow your knowledge of giving trends, changes to charitable tax law, giving vehicles, and general knowledge of philanthropy and ethics, as well as missiological practices and strategic IMB giving opportunities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferred
• At least FIVE years’ experience in development work
• Broad understanding of SBC denominational culture and church life
• Strong one-on-one communication skills and able to sustain personal relationships
• Self-motivated and able to initiate contact with constituents in portfolio
• Effective constituent management: making sure tasks are completed
• Able to explain planned giving concepts and maintain a working knowledge of US charitable tax law
• Maintain the respect and support of IMB/NAMB/Send Relief constituencies
• Able to make public presentations
• Working knowledge of relational database software
• Able to work collaboratively internally and externally
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, in the southeastern US region
