Who we are looking for

We are seeking candidates with 3+ years of experience to join our Portfolio Solutions Transition Management and Strategy team in Boston, MA.  State Street Markets Portfolio Solutions group provides trading and exposure management solutions to institutional investors globally. Strategies cover a range of asset classes including equities, fixed income, FX, and exchange traded derivatives. The Portfolio Solutions Trade Strategy team operates across our Currency Management, Transition Management, Exposure Solutions and Partnered Trading offerings. The person in this role will be responsible for support of the transition desk, development / enhancement of all Portfolio Solutions products and client-facing trade strategy consulting.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, requiring at least 4 days of work in the office.

What you will be responsible for

As a Transition and Trade Strategy Analyst, you will:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the trading life cycle including pre-trade, implementation, and post-trade aspects.
  • Support our Global transition desk with pre- and post-trade analysis and execution reporting; planning and project management including communication across parties (clients, custodians, record-keepers, investment managers and consultants); portfolio management and order generation; collaboration with trading desk on trade strategy and instructions; and monitoring of daily middle office support functions (trade communications, reconciliations, corporate actions).
  • Evolve and industrialize our suite of trading, hedging and exposure analysis tools, including ongoing enhancement of pre- and post-trade analytics, working with our internal reporting, product development and analytics teams and external vendors.
  • Develop expertise in multi-asset agency trading, exposure management, and currency hedging strategies. Represent trading products as a subject matter expert.
  • Become an expert on benchmarking and measurement of our trade execution performance through Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA)
  • Consult with clients to understanding their investment challenges, perform quantitative and qualitative analysis, and present findings internally and to existing and prospective customers
  • Support sales and business development initiatives and contribute to thought leadership across products
  • Assess internal business operations (trading strategies, performance, technology, data management, marketing, research) and develop solutions to enhance product positioning
  • Lead and contribute to strategic projects in partnership with other groups / businesses within State Street as well as external vendors

  • Technical proficiency, with experience using Bloomberg and other market-data sources for analytical purposes as well as modeling in Excel / VBA and Python
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to clearly articulate complex topics and navigate projects with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Experience with investment management, trading and operational functions, preferably across multiple asset classes
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment, all while maintaining a critical focus on details
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; pro-active in seeking out the next project to help the team

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, finance or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in a trading, portfolio management, consulting, analytical  or operational role
  • MBA, graduate degree in a quantitative discipline, or CFA designation preferred
  • Experience with programming languages, data visualization software, and database infrastructures preferred

Additional requirements

  • Completion of FINRA exams required to become registered representative within first 2 years in role
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
