Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Project Environmental Planner to join the Riverside, California team. This team oversees the planning, environmental clearance, design, and construction of projects on the state highway system, under California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) oversight and following Caltrans’ standards and procedures, and on commuter and freight rail lines, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) or Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF), and Union Pacific Railroad (UP) oversight and following their standards.

 

In the position, you will have an opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team of industry professionals across the globe to support the team. This role will be located in the client’s office in Riverside, California. Work includes assisting the client Project Manager in all activities relating to one, or several concurrent contracts, as assigned by management. This role is intended to support the client’s Capital Project team.  #LI-VB1

 

Major Responsibilities:

• Support with the planning, organization, and administration of contract procurement of professional services. Some of the related duties include but are not limited to the following: development of task orders and request for proposals, evaluation of proposals, contract negotiation, development of project schedules, review and administration of contracts, procurement document retention, rough order of magnitude cost estimation, review, and recommendation for payment of invoices.
• Provide project oversight, analysis, and input through all phases of project development and delivery. Some of the related duties may include but are not limited to the following: coordinate preparation and compliance of project delivery schedules with consultants and project team; facilitate and document project meetings; review of design and environmental reports and plans for all phases of a project including planning, Project Approval & Environmental Document (PA&ED), Plan, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) and construction.
• Monitor the consultants progress and schedule and ensure they are progressing the work and that the elements of the schedule are logical and applicable to the phase of the project.
• Assist and monitor the consultants work during the environmental process and ensure they deliver the required documents/studies/reports required by California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and any other environmental requirements. On pr
