The Director, HRBP, will supervise an HRBP team who will support the assigned business unit. As a member of the HR Business Partnership leadership team, the Director, HRBP is accountable for understanding the business supported and its culture, ensuring excellent service to internal and external customers, strategically supporting leaders as a partner on leadership effectiveness, proactive solutions, systems thinking, team member engagement, risk mitigation, complex and difficult HR issues at the local level, facilitating conflict resolution in assigned business areas and escalating as needed to appropriate HR functional areas, the AVP of HR Business Partnerships and/or Legal Counsel.
The Director, HRBP, interprets HR metrics (e.g. turnover, vacancy rates), identifies trends and recommends strategic solutions for business groups. This role develops a team approach that is focused on collaborating with other HR functional areas to meet the overall HR and business vision, goals, key objectives and needs of the organization.
The Director, HRBP is also responsible for incorporating change management initiatives within the assigned unit to align with the overall strategy, mission, vision and values for VCUHS. Finally, the Director, HRBP ensures compliance with VCUHS policies and practices, and state/ federal regulations related to employment practices.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification or SHRM-Certified Professional preferred. Six Sigma certification preferred.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively more responsible Human Resources positions.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience, leading strategic human resource roles.
Three (3) years of experience in the Healthcare industry.
Experience in providing accurate and timely advice and recommendations to business leaders.
Ability to plan projects, develop milestones, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet specific deadlines.
Detail oriented, well organized with strong time and project management skills.
Able to work productively in fast-paced environment with little direct supervision.
Demonstrated industry and market knowledge of strategic employment practices and legal consequences.
Experience and ability to work efficiently and rapidly, adjusting to changing business needs under the pressure of strict deadlines.
Strong business acumen and understanding of key industry and business trends / strategic approaches.
Experience developing and utilizing HR metrics to inform business decisions.
Experience PREFERRED:
Eight (8) years of progressively more responsible Human Resources supervisory / management positions.
Experience in a Physicians’ Practice. Project Management experience. Change Management experience.
Experience in an Academic Health Science Center.
Experience in or familiarity with the academic mission of a healthcare system.
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field.
Education/training PREFERRED:
Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field from accredited program.
Independent action(s) required:
Advising, Hiring, Coaching, Mentoring and Managing.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
May direct and/or supervise the work of Human Resources Business Partner team members, as assigned.
