About the Role
Octave is looking for a software engineer with 5+ years of frontend experience in a product development setting to join our Client Experience team. The ideal candidate for this role is a growth-minded team player with the proven ability to offer technical leadership when/where needed.
We are a small but growing team who work remotely using React, TypeScript, GraphQL and CSS to bring everything together
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of highly responsive user interfaces
- Partner closely with product managers and UX designers to translate business requirements and designs into functional code
- Architect and design scalable frontend solutions, ensuring code modularity, reusability, and maintainability
- Drive performance optimization efforts, delivering fast-loading and high-performing web applications
- Collaborate with team members to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Mentor and guide more junior engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering their professional growth
- Participate in code reviews, hold the bar for coding standards, and promote best practices to maintain a high-quality codebase
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications, ensuring a bug-free user experience
- Establish and maintain technical documentation for frontend components and systems
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and growing
Required Skills
- Writing high-quality frontend code with automated testing and leaving the code base better than you found it
- Experience with continuous delivery and troubleshooting production code
- Comfortable communicating with engineers, clinical, and operations staff to solve open-ended problems
- Interest in doing mission-oriented work especially in the healthcare space
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or anytime in the future
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of frontend experience building web applications
- Strong experience in developing and deploying modern web applications with React
- Experience with GraphQL
- Experience working with Product Managers, leading projects and mentoring engineers
- (nice to have) Experience working with healthcare, healthcare technology, and clinical staff, or other regulated industries
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to frequently communicate with others through virtual meeting applications such as Zoom and Google Meet.
- Must be able to observe and communicate information on company provided laptop.
- Move up to 10 pounds on occasion.
