The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer located in Hazelwood, MO.

The successful candidate will leverage Structural Finite Element Modeling and Analysis expertise to provide core engineering discipline guidance and influence on programs, coordinate and oversee Finite Element Modeling and Analysis methodologies, applications, infrastructures and road map across the BDS organization, and to engage at the Enterprise level.

A technical leader is needed to coordinate, assist, and advise the engineering community at the BDS and Enterprise level to ensure common standard processes and best practices.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Possesses expertise in advanced Finite Element Modeling solvers and analysis procedures for various software such as Nastran, Abaqus, Optistruct and StressCheck

  • Provide application support for Finite Element Analysis tools and derivatives including Patran, Nastran, Hypermesh, Optistruct, Abaqus, Abaqus CAE, LS-Dyna, Inspire, SimSolid, StressCheck, SLIM/VISION, ADAMS, NX Pre-Post, Simcenter3D, EASY5, Intel Fortran

    • Packaging and distribution

    • End user support

  • Software Licensing Focal

    • Knowledgeable of licensing agreements

    • Work with vendors to obtain or update licenses

    • Knowledgeable for maintaining license servers

    • Manage license distribution to meet needs across programs

    • Troubleshoot license and server issues

  • Manage common Finite Element Analysis software development, evaluation, and maintenance

  • Coordinate with suppliers and the engineering community to identify and address issues in their software

  • Coordinate with engineering community and management to identify critical training needs and business cases for funding and class set up.

  • Coordinate with vendor to provide training

  • Develop and maintain software installations and associated scripting on High Performance Computing (HPC) Clusters

  • Provide expertise for developing and troubleshooting complex Finite Element Model and Analysis

  • Provide guidance and consultation on modeling techniques and methods to yield the best results for the type of analysis

  • Supporting Finite Element Analysis technology initiatives at other sites, organizations and at the Enterprise level

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Level 5: 14+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 12+ years of work related experience with a Masters Degree OR 9+ years of work related experience with a PhD.

  • Expertise in structural analysis of aerospace structures

  • Expertise in finite element analysis of aerospace structures

  • Knowledgeable and experience with structural finite analysis software

  • Knowledgeable and experience with computing infrastructures

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong ability to develop technology roadmaps and plans

  • Strong ability to provide guidance and instructions to the technical community

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 5: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
