We are currently seeking a Multi-Cloud Lead SQL/Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in Austin, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Multi-Cloud Lead SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize SQL and object database environments across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and having secondary skills in Oracle Database administration. This role will focus on provisioning, performance tuning, high availability, backup, and security of SQL databases and cloud-native object databases in a multi-cloud environment, supporting mission-critical applications and analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
SQL Database Administration:
Provision, configure, and maintain SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle DB instances in AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL Database, GCP Cloud SQL/AlloyDB, and OCI Autonomous Database.
Design and implement high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., multi-AZ, failover groups, cross-region replication).
Perform database backup, restore, patching, and upgrade operations across all cloud platforms.
Monitor and tune database performance using cloud-native monitoring tools and traditional database performance tools.
Create Linked Servers to SQL Servers and other databases such as Oracle, Access, Informix etc.
Ensure all key databases have deep insight monitoring enabled to enable improved capabilities around fault detection
Cloud Object Database Management:
Manage and optimize cloud-native object databases:
AWS DynamoDB
Azure Cosmos DB
Google Cloud Firestore / Bigtable
Oracle NoSQL Database Cloud Service
Implement best practices for partitioning, indexing, throughput provisioning, and capacity management.
Establish lifecycle management policies for object data, backup strategies, and encryption.
Automation and Infrastructure-as-Code:
Automate database provisioning and configuration using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM/Bicep templates, GCP Deployment Manager, and OCI Resource Manager.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for database schema changes using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Cloud Build.
Security and Compliance:
Enforce database security policies, encryption (at rest and in transit), and access controls via IAM roles/policies across all clouds.
Support audits by ensuring logging, alerting, and compliance with industry standards (HIPAA, PCI, SOC2).
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with cloud engineers, DevOps teams, data analysts, and application developers to support development and production environments.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
Assist the support staff to troubleshoot Oracle, SQL and any other database errors.
Strong expertise in managing SQL Server databases with full managed services, including database backup/restore, HA, DR, patching, tuning, maintanance, security, networking, optimization, troubleshooting, ETL, monitoring
Be able to build up and manage PaaS databases in AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI in SQL databases
Participating in DR (Disaster Recovery)/COB (Continuity of Business) plans
Document all database configurations, processes, and policies.
Required Qualifications:
Primary: SQL
Secondary: Oracle, Exadata
10+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in enterprise environments.
