Job Description:

DATA LOSS PREVENTION ENGINEER PRINCIPAL

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Subject-Matter Expert/Technical Lead to support one of our federal customers on an enterprise cyber program in the DC metropolitan area. This hybrid position offers a combination of remote work and periodic on-site support and customer meetings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating DLP tools, protecting sensitive data, and leading large-scale DLP implementations.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Operate data loss prevention tools to protect data in motion, data at rest, and data in use, analyzing and interpreting results.
  • Secure transmission avenues for sensitive data, including M365, email, web, and cloud environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain DLP policies, incident workflows, and governance processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments, policy tuning, and incident triage to ensure robust data protection.
  • Lead or serve as the technical point of contact in enterprise-scale DLP implementations.
  • Integrate DLP solutions with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, such as Splunk.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members and end-users on DLP-related issues.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and materials on DLP policies and practices.
  • Monitor and manage DLP incidents through their lifecycle, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align DLP strategies with organizational goals and compliance requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable credentials reflecting knowledge, skills, and experience in operating DLP tools and technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security.
  • 3+ years specifically with Data Loss Prevention tools and technologies.
  • Proven experience leading or serving as the technical point of contact in enterprise-scale DLP implementations.
  • Prior experience in large environments (10k+ endpoints/users), preferably supporting 50k+ clients.
  • Experience integrating DLP solutions with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk).
  • Strong expertise in protecting sensitive data and securing transmission avenues such as M365, email, web, and cloud.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying and addressing data protection issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or similar.
  • Familiarity with federal security regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining detailed documentation for DLP practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based DLP practices and tools.
