Job Description

IHI Power Corp has an opportunity for an Ash Truck Driver at our Sunnyside coal mine location in Utah.

Job Summary

The Ash Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting ash, a byproduct of coal combustion, from the power plant to a designated disposal site. This involves operating large trucks, ensuring proper loading and unloading procedures, and adhering to safety regulations within the mine and on the road.

Job Functions

• Operate heavy-duty haul trucks or articulated dump trucks to transport ash materials in accordance with company and environmental guidelines.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with maintenance protocols.
• Safely load and unload ash using automated or manual systems as required.
• Monitor and report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or environmental hazards.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of load counts, transport routes, and disposal locations.
• Follow established traffic patterns and road safety rules on-site and in permitted off-site areas.
• Communicate with dispatch, scale operators, and supervisors via radio or digital systems.
• Comply with all OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
• Assist with basic truck maintenance, cleanliness, and fueling.
• Support other duties as assigned, including assisting with site clean-up or environmental containment.
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the truck is in safe operating condition, and reporting any issues.
• Completing paperwork such as Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), Bill of Ladings, and other required documentation.
• Adhering to all DOT regulations, company safety protocols, and operating procedures.
• Communicating effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and other team members to coordinate deliveries and ensure smooth operations.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

• High School diploma; GED or equivalent level of work experience.
• Valid Driver’s License Required
• 1+ years of experience operating heavy haul trucks or similar equipment in an industrial, mining, or construction setting.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures related to hauling hazardous or regulated materials.
• Familiarity with MSHA regulations and site safety practices (certification preferred).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-first environment.
• Experience with a variety of trucks a plus
• Experience with crude and pneumatic trailers a plus
• Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position.
• Valid CDL Class A or B a plus
• MSHA Surface Miner Certification a plus

• Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
• Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
