IV/ Pharmacy Tech - 2nd Shift - FT (63641)

JOB SUMMARY

Assists the pharmacists with support activities and processes related to medication distribution within the hospital. Receives medication and other supplies for storage. Stocks Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets (AMDCs) or areas where medications are stored. Prepares, packages, and labels medications to be dispensed to patients. Compounds non-sterile products according to USP <795> standards. Shows compliance with receiving and handling of hazardous drugs according to USP <800> standards. Demonstrates computer proficiency with software related to dispensing of medications.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School graduate, or equivalent, or enrolled in high school.

Licensure: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy or will be registered prior to start date.

Experience: Prior experience not required, but is desirable. Hospital experience is preferred.

Skills: Basic computer and typing skills. Maintaining effective working relationships with fellow associates. Clear and effective communication. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Ability to type, knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Work area should be well lighted. Work schedule requires flexible and rotating hours. May be required to handle hazardous drugs. Moderately heavy, work pace is very hectic and rushed at times and worker is required to be on feet most of day. Mental efforts include effective communicating of job responsibilities.
