Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing senior-level accounting functions of the organization, including cash, A/P, A/R, retail accounting and audit, and fuel accounting functions. Provides direct support to the Controller.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintains and balances general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, and by resolving discrepancies.
- Participates in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system change.
- Provides department focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Assists with reconciling, auditing, and researching daily store paperwork and site level discrepancies.
- Performs and/or gives leadership to cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fuel accounting functions.
- Assists with compliance reviews.
- Assists with analyses, preparation, and distribution of financial statements.
- Assists with the development and establishment of any new accounting policies and procedures related to the implementation of process and system changes.
- Prepares assigned schedules for interim and annual audits.
- Contributes to department and organization of special projects as needed.
- Ensures proper handling and distribution of company funds.
- Maintains confidentiality of all company, client, employee, and vendor information.
- Reacts productively to change.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, OR related field
- 5+ years professional experience in accounting across a variety of accounting functions.
- 3+ years professional experience using modern, advanced accounting software or ERP systems
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation OR CPA candidate
- Advanced Level MS Excel skills
