Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Manufacturing Systems Engineer 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Advanced Manufacturing Technology organization. This leadership role will be located in either Clearfield, UT or El Segundo, CA.

The Manager Manufacturing Systems Engineer 2 will lead a team of Manufacturing Systems Engineers in defining, developing, implementing, and transitioning new and disruptive technology solutions to our programs to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve quality. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

Key Technical Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers in the ideation, development and deployment of manufacturing concept and process solutions for production applications and advanced technologies, including, but not limited to, composites fabrication, assembly, automation, inspection, direct part manufacturing, LO technologies, and digital capabilities.
  • Knowledge and execution of Contractual Research & Development (CRAD) activities.
  • Work with Global Supply Chain and use Small Business experience and knowledge to act with speed to evolve and replace baseline technologies.
  • Identify and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure R&D contractual obligations (technical, schedule, and cost) are met and product quality is maintained. 
  • Provide guidance regarding design concepts, TRL/MRL maturity, and specification requirements to best utilize resources and manufacturing techniques, and ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, program offices, engineering disciplines, and executive management. 

Key Functional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct performance assessments, and regular conversations about employee development, communication, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval and other routine personnel issues.
  • Assess, prioritize and adjust staffing to current and projected program needs.
  • Facilitate engineering support, review and approval of Bid & Proposal (B&P) requests.
  • Support program gate reviews as the engineering review authority, and assist in resolution of program engineering challenges (technical, financial, and staffing).
  • Comprehend and analyze complex problems, develop solutions and coordinate across programs and functions for common efficiencies and operational gains.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree (STEM) AND 7 years of related professional/military experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace or manufacturing/production OR a Master's Degree (STEM) AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace or manufact
