What You’ll Do

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Diego is searching for wireless SOC architect at all levels.

Candidate will join a team conducting research on next generation wireless systems (5G and beyond) and will work on the chip architecture and design, hardware/software partitioning, and verification of modem chips for latest 3GPP standards such as New Radio (5G), LTE,  and V2X. 

Samsung modem chipsets for 2G/3G/4G/5G have been commercialized in millions of smart devices including Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets including the advanced 5G mmWave solutions.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Diego, CA office 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

• Design, implement and validate hardware architecture of modem chipsets which meet upcoming requirements of 5G use cases.
• Incorporate tradeoff of performance, size and power consumption within SOC design.
• Incorporate interactions of RF, digital, baseband engines and various sub-systems including microprocessor/controllers in overall architecture design of the modem platform.
• Enable profiling of chip performance metrics using simulators.
• C/C++ performance modeling of proposed architectural solutions and features.
• Support lab bring-up and evaluation of chip samples.
• Work closely with hardware and software engineers to develop an implementation that meets system requirements.

What You Bring

• Bachelors with 15+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 13+ years or PhD with 10+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Experience in modem architecture design of cellular systems and other advanced wireless systems.
• Experience in inter and intra-chip connections, bus protocols and wireless interfaces.
• Solid programming skills in C, C++ or equivalent languages.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and presentation skills.

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

 

Base Pay Range$132,800—$270,000 USD
