Position Summary 

Harbinger Health is seeking a talented accounting professional to join our dynamic, high-growth organization.

The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and will be responsible for the preparation of month-end close, account reconciliations, processing and maintaining accounts payable documentation and payments, review and approval of expense reports and review payroll in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. The Staff Accountant will also be assisting Finance Leadership with ad hoc projects and audit requests as needed.

To be successful as a Staff Accountant, you should have financial analysis skills, possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to perform under pressure.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Preparing journal entries, analysis and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of month/quarter/year end close responsibilities.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices.
  • Understand and support the 3-way match of PO’s, receipts, and invoices including working with company stakeholders to facilitate the matching process.
  • Prepare semi-monthly payment file for review and approval and initiate and facilitate the payment of supplier invoices in the ERP and payment system once the payment file is approved.
  • Responsible for the review and maintenance of the Accounts Payable and Finance inboxes.
  • Timely review and approval of employee expense reports and related support to ensure accurate completion based on company policies.
  • Timely and accurate review and tie out of semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll files provided by 3rd party payroll provider.
  • Assist with audit schedules and audit requests as needed for annual audits.
  • Responsible for the preparation of annual 1099, Use Tax, and other Accounts Payable compliance reporting requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the finance team and other departments to ensure effective and efficient cross functional collaboration.
  • Assists finance leadership with ad-hoc initiatives.
  • Continue to improve processes for all areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or finance is required
  • 2+ years accounting experience
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Thorough understanding of financial application security, ensuring that all financial data are secure and comply with confidentiality policies
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly with Excel
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible, personable team-player, comfortable in a fast-paced, small, high-growth company environment
  • Ability to distill complexity and to communicate decisively with sound judgment
