About the role:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure that enable the collection, processing, and analysis of large volumes of data. Your responsibilities will include designing efficient data models, implementing ETL processes, integrating various data sources, ensuring data quality and integrity, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to meet the organisation's data-driven objectives. You will leverage your expertise in software engineering, database management, and cloud technologies to empower data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders with reliable and accessible data assets. Your contributions will be essential in driving informed decision-making and unlocking insights from complex datasets, ultimately contributing to the organisation's success in a data-driven landscape.

What the role involves:
- You will build data pipelines that efficiently move, transform, and load data to support analytics and reporting.
- You will develop ETL processes to extract data from multiple sources, apply necessary transformations, and load it into storage systems.
- You will integrate data from various databases, APIs, and external systems.
- You will implement rigorous data validation mechanisms to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- You will establish and maintain a structured framework for capturing and managing metadata, ensuring data lineage and traceability.
- You will implement data security measures and enforce compliance with regulations to protect sensitive information.
- You will implement complex data transformations to derive meaningful insights from raw data.
- You will design and develop efficient data models that support various business use cases while ensuring optimal performance.
- You will monitor and fine-tune data pipelines and processes for improved efficiency and reliability.
About you:
- 5 years of data / analytics engineering experience building, maintaining and working with data pipelines & ETL processes.
- Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or Scala.
- Excellent written and spoken English (all documentation is written in English).
- Good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts.
- Knowledge of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
- Solid understanding of SQL and database technologies for data querying and manipulation.
- Experience with processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to handle complex data challenges.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Strong organisational and self motivation skills.
