Career that Changes Lives

In this role, you will lead a high-performing team of program managers driving complex, cutting-edge research and development initiatives within Medtronic’s ENT Operating Unit. You will shape and refine the program management methodology—building the systems, processes, and best practices that enable consistent, high-quality execution. As the owner of governance for New Product Development, you will guide teams through critical decision points, monitor performance metrics, and ensure alignment across the organization. ENT development programs operate at a high level of complexity, requiring coordination across large, multidisciplinary teams. Through strategic delegation and empowerment, you will enable program managers to lead cross-functional teams—from concept through commercialization—ensuring successful execution, innovation, and delivery of impactful solutions that advance patient care.

Supervisory Relationships:

  • This role directly leads a diverse team across program management disciplines, which may include Senior Program Managers, Program Managers, Senior PMO Managers, PMO Managers, Project Managers, and Program Specialists.
  • The leader in this role is responsible for driving performance, fostering ownership and accountability, developing talent, promoting engagement and inclusion, communicating business and operational priorities, and guiding team planning, prioritization, and execution.
  • Success in this position depends on both effective leadership of direct reports and the ability to influence cross-functional teams within and beyond the ENT operating unit.
  • A core responsibility is people leadership—mentoring, coaching, and developing staff to meet and exceed performance expectations and defined objectives. This leader provides strong motivational direction and operates with a high degree of autonomy.

Daily Responsibilities, typically via direct reports but sometimes directly:

  • Lead or guide cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop, and manage projects for new product development as well as ongoing product lifecycle management.

  • Own the Portfolio Strategy Board process, providing ENT leadership with clear updates on program status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee and manage operational performance of ongoing projects.

  • Direct the development and implementation processes for new or existing products, services, and procedures with departmental or cross-functional teams.

  • Maintain accurate budget reporting and resource-charging tools.

  • Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring alignment with timelines, scope, and quality standards.

  • Identify project issues and drive resolutions that support productivity, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Establish tools and mechanisms to monitor progress, intervene when needed, and solve problems proactively.

  • Lead requirements gathering, planning, elicitation, and management to meet stakeholder needs.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment and engagement.

  • Provide regular briefings to senior and executive leadership on operations, project status, and strategic initiatives.
